Microsoft Office 365 Now Offers Unlimited Cloud Storage

Microsoft's cloud-based Office platform just got a big upgrade: The company announced on Monday that Office 365 subscribers will soon have unlimited storage on OneDrive at no additional cost.

OneDrive works much like Google Drive, allowing you to access content on all of your devices, plus share it and collaborate on documents. Unlike traditional Microsoft Office, the platform updates automatically. Google Drive, Box, Dropbox and other cloud-storage utilities, though, have limited storage capabilities. If you meet a limit, you have to buy more. Bitcasa, one of the few platforms to offer unlimited storage, actually ceased that operation last week, giving Microsoft a big advantage in regards to storage.

The rollout begins immediately. If you want to be one of the very first users to get more storage, you can add yourself to Microsoft's waiting list.

Office 365 plans begin at $6.99 per month, which includes Office features and the unlimited storage. The rollout will continue over the coming months, however, so it's unclear how much of an impact the announcement will have immediately. In the meantime, users will have access to 1TB of storage as they wait for more space to become available.

A Microsoft spokeswoman told Mashable that there are currently 7 million Office 365 subscribers.
